Yusuke Tanaka Joins KONAMI

February 14, 2012

KONAMI CORPORATION

KONAMI CORPORATION is pleased to announce Yusuke Tanaka, an Artistic Gymnastics World Championships medalist, will be joining the Konami Group.

Tanaka will join the KONAMI Gymnastics Team and vigorously train alongside other world-class athletes such as Kohei Uchimura in hopes of joining the Japan national team at the 2012 London Olympics. His official corporate position will be at Konami Sports & Life Co., Ltd.

Tanaka took first place in the men's all-around at the 2007 International Junior Gymnastics Competition, propelling him into the gymnastics spotlight. He also competed alongside KONAMI’s Kohei Uchimura, Kenya Kobayashi, Koji Yamamuro, and Makoto Okiguchi at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Tokyo 2011, helping win a silver medal in the team all-around event.

One of the biggest perks to Tanaka's induction is access to a proprietary gym dedicated solely to gymnastics (located in Soka City, Saitama Prefecture). The athletes that train there are well known for excellent performances both at home and abroad, working under the guidance of seasoned coaches and trainers with experience in building up athletes to the international level.

Konami Group pledges its continued support to the future of Japanese gymnastics through each of its team member's accomplishments.

■ Comment from Yusuke Tanaka
After the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, I was filled with a strong desire to improve myself further. Here at KONAMI, I am privileged with both experienced instructors and trustworthy teammates. Moving forward, I will be training my utmost best in hopes to make it to the London Olympics.

■ Comment from KONAMI Gymnastics Team Coach Hiroyuki Kato
KONAMI is home to many top athletes representing Japan. My earnest hope is that Tanaka capitalizes on this and wins the privilege to represent his country at the upcoming London Olympics. Furthermore, adjusting to these new surroundings as a newly inducted member of adult society will ready his mind for performing at the highest echelon of world athletics. I firmly believe Tanaka has what it takes to become world-class, and would like to welcome him to a fully-furnished environment that will help him get there.
