On Sunday, February 19, 2012, the Konami Gymnastics Team conducted a gymnastics class and demonstration at the Konami Soka Gymnasium, in order to demonstrate the fun of gymnastics to local residents.
11 gymnasts participated in the event, including Kōhei Uchimura, who went on to become All-Around Champion at the London Olympics, and other competitors who represented Japan at the 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Tokyo, including Kenya Kobayashi, Makoto Okiguchi, and Koji Yamamuro.
During the demonstration, the gymnasts displayed the very peak of Japanese gymnastic ability to children and their families in an up-close setting, earning their rapturous applause. 63 elementary school students participated in the gymnastic class in Soka City, receiving engaging, personalized instruction in posture, technique, and other areas from all-star athletes who they ordinarily can ordinarily watch from a distance.
The members of the Konami Gymnastic Team will continue to help promote the growth and development of gymnastics around Japan.
